Fit to be Kids is a non-profit organization providing physical activity, nutrition counseling and life coaching programs to low-income/at-risk children and their families. Our health and wellness curriculum is designed to educate the public and to provide a local resource for reducing health risks of childhood obesity within the community. Our programs incorporate mind-body-spirit practices that provide children and families with life-long skills. Through physical activity, nutrition counseling and life coaching programs; our mission is to promote positive reinforcement of change, reduce problematic health risks, increase obesity awareness, and improve overall wellness for families. Our mission is to eliminate the childhood obesity epidemic by bringing comprehensive Physical Education programs to public schools that do not have them. To teach children to be active during their school day using knowledgeable instructors at low or no cost to the school. Today, many public schools throughout our nation do not meet the minimum Physical Education requirements for children set by the United States government of 60 minutes a day of vigorous activity.

Save Phys Ed was started to spark fitness projects throughout the school system. We began with a push from the New York City Strategic Alliance for Health, a five-year project that studied how changes in daily school life can help youth affirm fitness as part of their lives. Save Phys Ed proposes connecting schools that lack phys ed with teachers who can give it, in city parks. To make these connections tight, we need parents to do a little work educating themselves about what phys ed their children are getting. Then we’ll help parents up the amount, and intensity, of phys ed in their kids’ lives.

The Fit Kids Foundation was founded in January 2011. Its mission is to promote healthy, active lives for children in underserved Bay Area communities by providing opportunities to participate in organized sports and fitness classes. Fit Kids’ goal is to inspire a love of sports and physical activity that will be the foundation for healthy living, while simultaneously helping to build participants’ positive relationships, self-confidence, independence and ability to deal with adversity. FunMeFit encourages families and children into sport and physical activity by providing a supportive community of individuals, families, groups, clubs and organizations. FunMeFit shows families how unique and fun exercise can be through a diverse range of activities available in their community. Our membership-based community website, combines useful information and offers fun activities for everyone in the family. We provide discussion forums, a friendship and group system to meet others as well as set up groups or join existing ones.
